The first step before starting any kind of Make Up application, is making sure that your model/client has a completely clean face, this is vital is making sure that the make up you apply goes on smoothly, and looks the best it possibly can. To achieve this, you take three simple steps in ensuring that their face is cleansed, toned and moisturised.
1. Cleansing:
To cleanse the face, squeeze a small amount of cleanser onto a cotton pad. In soft, upwards motions, take the cleanser over the face, removing any current make up. You often have to do this several times to ensure every last bit of make up is removed. To remove make up from the eyes, you can also use a cotton pad, however to get right to the root of the lashes, take a small cotton bud with a small amount of cleanser, and gently sweep the bud from side to side. Also bare in mind that you cleanse all the way to the hairline, as well as cleansing down the neck and anyone wearing contact lenses may want to cleanse their own eyes.
2. Toning:
Toning makes certain that all the make up and any traces of cleanser are removed from the face before moisturising. Like with cleansing, take a cotton pad and squeeze onto it a small amount of toner. Sweep this over the face in upwards motions.
3. Moisturising:
People often think you have to take a large amount of moisturiser to properly moisturise the face, but actually only a small, pea sized amount is needed. Once you have you moisturiser in the palm of your hands, rub them together and apply to the face ensuring it has been properly absorbed before starting your application.
* Key Tips!
- Always have products for sensitive skin, un-perfumed is best.
- When cleansing men's faces, it is okay to use tissue.
- You can kindly recommend that anyone that has acne prone/ oily skin could exfoliate 2/3 times a week, but never on the day of applying make up.
